Sterilization Protocol

Health and Safety Information

At Central Carolina Endodontics your health and safety are always our main concern, which is why we take all necessary precautions to ensure your protection. We provide a comfortable endodontic experience in a safe, clean and sterilized environment.

How We Practice Safety

Our experienced and caring team is thoroughly educated and trained on sterilization protocols. We stay up to date with all procedures recommended by the Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Safety is our top priority, so these practices are part of our daily operations.

Our safety practices are as follows:

  • Requiring the use of gloves and face masks for clients and staff
  • Ensuring disinfectant hand soap and sinks are available throughout the office
  • Using disposable materials when possible
  • Cleaning countertops and surfaces with EPA-approved chemical disinfectants
  • Sterilizing equipment before and after each use

Our team members are dedicated to making you feel safe and relaxed. You will see them actively practicing these health regulations while you are in our care.

All clinical staff wear disposable gloves and masks during procedures and examinations. All exam rooms are thoroughly cleaned before, during and after your visit. The materials we use during examinations and other procedures are mostly disposable, but instruments that are not disposable are sterilized, packaged and stored.

Our sterilization protocol for non-disposable materials are as follows:

  • Clean – All instruments are thoroughly cleaned using ultrasonic cleaners, which make sure that all bacteria, germs, and other debris are completely removed.
  • Package – Once clean, instruments are wrapped in FDA-compliant packaging prior to sterilization.
  • Sterilization – Once safely packaged, instruments are sterilized using FDA-approved dental autoclave sterilizers.
  • Disinfect – After every use, our machines and surfaces are thoroughly disinfected using EPA-approved cleaners.
